The purpose of this article is to situate or contextualize, within the framework of the Peruvian literary system, the emergence of a self-reflective discourse characteristic of the narrator of the 21st century. For this, it has been divided into three main parts. In the first one, taking as a starting point the contribution of Antonio Cornejo Polar, the notion of the literary system is traced in a general way, which starts from Russian formalism, and its particular use within the Latin American critical tradition. Likewise, what are the elements that make up said system, according to the theory of the polysystems of the Israeli researcher Itamar Even-Zohar. In the second part, the particular functioning of these elements within the Peruvian literature is verified; emphasizes the figure of the writer, the critic and the institutionalism that supports their relationships. In the last part, what are, in this context, the elements that allow the emergence of said self-reflective discourse, how it is carried out and what characteristics it presents are specified.
