Emblematic and Espejo De Prí­ncipes in the Comedia de San Francisco de Borja by Matí­as de Bocanegra

Abstract

The article explores the play Comedia de San Francisco de Borja by Matí­as de Bocanegra in its relation with the Espejo de prí­ncipes genre. By this mean, the article uses an intertextual aproach with three texts of emblematic literature from the period and it develops in three sections: an introduction, a section dedicated to the sovereing´s role, a section about the desengaño and third about the religious conception of the play. The conclusion pretends to establish the didactical function of the play as model of buen gobierno to its original public.
