About the poetry of Abraham Valdelomar (1888-1919), the specialized critics have mentioned the authenticity of incorporating the intimate family longing and the remembrance of the regional landscape; evocations that opened the path to the literary renovation, after assimilating the modernist poetic tendency. Although the tremendous value that the rhythmic aspects operate in the sonorous composition of Valdelomar”™s poetry has been highlighted, the author”™s conscious work has not been studied in detail. In that aspect, the present article intends to glimpse the application of rhythm in three poetic discourses (“El árbol del cementerio”, “Tristitia” and “Luna Park”) published in Las voces múltiples where the rhythmic procedure in the versal composition is evidenced. For this purpose, we will use the theoretical foundations of the rhythm of quantity and intensity proposed by Balbín in Sistema de rítmica castellana and the principles of versification of Navarro Tomás described in Métrica española.
