Abstract

The research focuses on a comparative analysis of two Chinese translations of Cien años de soledad. The methodology is qualitative, based on a comparative textual analysis of selected fragments, without resorting to corpus tools or statistical methods. The article is structured around the study of the mother of little Remedios, who is a marginal character in the novel, examining how each version reinterprets her descriptions and key dialogues. The conclusions argue that neither version is superior; the variations reflect the different personal and historical approaches of the translators to the original text. A Benjaminian view of translation is proposed as a space of plurality and rereading, where each version enriches and expands the symbolic universe of the original work, contributing new nuances without betraying its essence.
